This airy and elegant Eagles Nest wedding is the epitome of romance. Our team had such a great time photographing Natasha and Billy. Take a look at their wedding images below:
Everything happens for a reason and good things come to those who wait!
Natasha and Billy had the wedding of their dreams filled with bagpipes, kilts and lots of laughter after many years of being in a long distance relationship.
Billy grew up in Scotland and went to a university in the USA on a soccer scholarship with Natasha’s friend, who brought Billy and others to Toronto on their Thanksgiving long weekend and invited Natasha and her girlfriends for a night out. Billy quickly introduced himself to lovely Natasha and they chatted all night. By the end of the weekend, Billy promised he would take Natasha on a date the same day next year. Although she had her doubts, he did in fact keep his promise! They were in constant communication when apart and inseparable ever since. Natasha says: “Being in a long distance relationship was difficult at times; but what it taught me is that what’s meant to be will always find a way.” The rest is history!
“My love of art, and especially photography, has always drawn me to art galleries,” Natasha told me. “Billy knew how much I loved going to the Art Gallery of Ontario; and more specifically the “red room” with floor to ceiling gallery walls. One day, when Billy arrived in Toronto, he decided to take me on a date to the AGO. As it was Billy’s first visit to the AGO, he was anxious to turn each corner not knowing when we would come across this favourite room of mine (he hoped it would have been our first stop in the gallery). At last, we approached my favourite hall and we sat on the bench in the centre of the room – I was admiring the works while Billy was preparing to pop the question! Billy handed me a red envelope which contained a photographic timeline of our relationship. Me, being naive, believed he did so simply because he knows I love receiving handwritten letters. Little did I know he was getting ready to propose on a bended knee! I was so surprised and froze in the surreal moment before saying YES! We celebrated and enjoyed the moment together before sharing the news, while I couldn’t stop crying happy tears! It will definitely remain as my favorite visit to the AGO.”
Their elegant, garden-inspired Eagles Nest wedding was a special gathering of close family and friends who came from overseas to celebrate their love. To tie in a bit of Scottish heritage, Billy and his groomsmen wore kilts while the bridesmaids wore sleek white gowns. Natasha wore a gown design by Hayley Paige, which brought the perfect amount of sparkles as she walked down the aisle accompanied by her dad.
Following the ceremony, we headed to Glendon College to take advantage of its beautiful architecture and ivy walls for our bride and groom portraits. The ivy covering the buildings gave the images a classic feel making for an elegant and timeless portrait location. I love the outdoors and incorporating natural elements into photography sessions. There’s just something about afternoon, natural light that brings that extra bit of life into a photo! Photographing Natasha and Billy was such a breeze! They trusted me completely, and were up for anything! It’s very important to trust your wedding photographer to do their job as it only encourages us to go above and beyond and create beautiful wedding photographs. Don’t be afraid to show your love and true emotions. Your wedding day is one of the happiest days of your life, so be happy! It is contagious to everyone around you and will translate beautifully into your wedding photos.
After a portrait session, we followed Natasha and Billy to their Eagles Nest wedding reception which was decorated with lavish, yet simple details that tied in their gold and green wedding colours beautifully. The tall centrepieces were filled with white flower arrangements and gave the room another level of glamour. As the night went on, and the dance floor filled up, it was clear it was going to be an amazing night to remember!
Thank you Natasha and Billy for inviting me to be apart of this next step in your life. I hope the future brings you all the happiness in the world! It was an absolute pleasure to work with you both. Cheers from Mango!
